Abstract

Translation from German into Arabic made a significant cultural movement during the recent past, but when compared to translation from English, French, Italian and Turkish, it seems modest in its temporal range and in its quantitative size. The reasons for this are cultural in nature, but they bear geographical and political features as well, as this movement began in the Arab region and in Egypt in particular through the efforts of Muhammad Ali Pasha (1769-1848), who was the Ottoman ruler of Egypt from 1805 to 1840, who first paid special attention to the translation of Western sources. However, the German translation movement experienced a huge leap in the second half of the twentieth century when German language departments, graduating translators and teachers who are fluent in German, were opened at Arab universities, especially in Egypt . This research deals with the methodology of intellectual, cultural, literary and philosophical transfer from German to Arabic.
