Abstract
The identity struggle in Bangladesh is a complex topic intertwined with history, culture, and politics. Since its independence, Bangladesh has witnessed numerous political transformations, including periods of military rule, transitions to democracy, and occasional returns to authoritarian governance. All these changes have impacted national identity, as political parties have used concepts of identity as tools to achieve their objectives. In this context, literature has been, and continues to be, an effective means of understanding and containing the complex experiences related to identity, homeland, and struggle, while providing a portrayal of the hardships, hopes, and sacrifices of this community. Accordingly, the research presents a study of the story ‘Tisra Watan: The Third Homeland’ by Shahzad Manzoor, in which he addresses the identity of Indians who migrated to East Pakistan as a second home, but the political and social conditions that the region went through in that difficult period of history forced them to migrate again.
