Abstract

This research revolves around the theme of realism in the stories "Sheikha Sheikha" by Yusuf Idris and "Yatır" (The Shrine) by the Turkish writer Refik Halid Karay. A comparative study is conducted. Through this study, light is shed on the stories "Sheikha" and "The Shrine" by the two great writers Yusuf Idris and Refik Halid Karay. A comparison is made between them in terms of their use of artistic construction elements in the stories, in addition to a comparison between them in the realistic issues they address, each related to the society in which they live. Through this study, we clarify the similarities and differences between them. We also examine how each of them addresses the issues of their respective societies, drawn from reality. Did they succeed in conveying an accurate image of society to the reader, or did they attempt to beautify the image and empty these realistic issues of their content?
