Abstract

This research analyzes the challenges of legal translation of Cultural-Specific Elements between Arabic and Spanish, through a comparative study focused on two articles from the Egyptian Personal Status Code and Law 26/1992 on the cooperation agreement between the Spanish State and the Islamic Commission of Spain. From an interdisciplinary perspective, it examines how culturally embedded elements within Islamic and Romano-Germanic legal systems influence the semantic and functional transfer of legal terms. The study proposes a categorization of legal Cultural-Specific Elements and a critical assessment of the most frequently used translation techniques (cultural adaptation, functional equivalence, modulation, etc.). The findings highlight the need for a holistic approach that integrates linguistic, legal, and cultural knowledge to ensure interpretive fidelity and communicative effectiveness in multicultural contexts.
