This paper addresses the ways and means of using new translation technologies, explains what technical translation is and the difference between the same and literary and general (i.e., political, economic, etc.) translation. The paper provides term explanations and theoretical foundations, including the semantic triangle, discipline, translation task, translation client, translator, target audience, and text type. Further, this paper addresses key technical tools as relevant to translation and translation teaching, including the Internet, e-devices and equipment, specialist translation applications and software. This paper affirms the importance of teaching CAT-Tools and technical translation.
